My wife works next to an auto service center, and had an alignment and tire rotation done. She paid in donuts. I guess that works too..

I swear this is like half of the economy in SLC. My brother had the craziest trade network when he was alive... “Yeah, I get my oil changed in exchange for a sandwich.”

I paid for minor body work with a six pack of craft brew once. All they had to do was straighten out a plastic strut behind the grille/fascia.

It makes me wonder if a lot of it is like a tax avoidance racket. I did some trading of services for goods/services with a number of my customers up there, and since no actual dollar value was assigned, I must imagine that no taxes were paid.
